PostSubject: Semi-late to the party   Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:17 pm

Hello to all and a thanks to El for starting this board. At the Write on Con forums I sued my normal name Barbara Sheridan but I thought I'd debut my brand new YA author name here--Kit Forbes.

I've been published in adult romance for a bit over 10 years, the first ones with a large house and after a break due to real life "stuff "I got into e-book publishing in 2005.

I've been doing okay there since. My Kit Forbes tag line is "Expert the unexpected" and I've found that top e-publishers are great at taking the "unexpected" stories and lengths that mainstream companies don't because they're a real niche market or they just plain don't find shorter length books marketable or profitable.

I've been a fan of YA for a long time mostly paranormal but I also like historical and some contemporary, which pretty much mirrors what I write.

The party's just beginning!

That's the beautiful thing. Wanna say welcome, glad you could make it. Better late than never, as they say.

We're trying to get a good solid group going here and I say it's shaping up quite nicely, especially with a previously published author in our midst! I can't wait till we dive in and start working with one another.

Not late at all!

And yay! Jet Li fan here too! I especially like his old pre-America movies, they're soooo artistic.

I'm amazed, as always, to meet a published author. I'm sure you know how we all yearn to be published. I've decided that my series will get published. If not through trade publishing, then self-publishing. And by self-publishing I don't mean vanity publishing Arrow ePublishing and possibly start my own little company to sell them in print as well.

I Amazon'ed you and there's one Kindle book I'd be especially interested in reading Very Happy Problem is that not all American Kindle books can be sold to Europe No They use the excuse that publishers might want to sell the rights separately to Europe - even though I have absolutely no problem ordering printed books from the American Amazon.

Anyway, I remember you from the forums (Hi!), and I hope to see you around.

Thank you for the welcomes!

There was a time when I thought getting "The Call" was "it" and all sorts of cool things would start happening. Reality kicked me and got that notion out of my head pretty quickly. Laughing

I think all the bad breaks that could possibly happen happened to me once that first book sold, but I survived...pretty much. geek

What book were you looking at Tessa?

Blood Brothers. I'm thinking about writing a boy-likes-boy novel, but it probably won't be very graphic (the R-rated scenes). I've got a neat plot in my mind and all.

This one is fairly graphic in terms of sex scenes and violence. We wrote it mostly because we were curious as to the origins of two characters who played background parts in another project.

I have a PDF copy handy if you're interested (that goes for anyone here, too)

Hi Barbara/Kit - great name! It has a really nice ring to it.

That's so great how you've been published. Perhaps we can get you to tell us your story one day - you mentioned that not so good things happened to you after publishing your first book Sad I hope all has worked out for the best in the end - it sounds like it has.

Anyway, welcome on board, looking forward to working with you Smile
